Spirit Of The Carneddau: Weekend Workshop

North Wales

DISCOVER.

LEARN.

INSPIRE.

Join award-winning wildlife photographer Kevin Morgans for an immersive weekend in the heart of Snowdonia, exploring the wild soul of the Carneddau mountains.

A Two-Day Immersive Photography Experience

There are still places in the UK that feel truly wild. The Carneddau is one of them.

High, open mountains. Shifting light. And a herd of ancient wild ponies that have lived here for centuries—shaped by weather, landscape, and time. This isn’t just about photographing them. It’s about stepping into their world—and learning how to tell their story.

“Discover the untamed heart of Snowdonia, where the Carneddau ponies roam free across windswept hills, and every breath carries the wild spirit of the mountains.”

  • The Experience

Over two days, we work within the landscape—moving slowly, observing behaviour, and responding to conditions as they unfold.

There is no fixed formula here. No rush to capture. No pressure to perform.

Instead, the experience is built around learning how to read a scene as it develops, how to work with light, weather, and atmosphere, and how to create images that feel grounded, considered, and intentional.

You’ll be guided throughout—not just in technique, but in how to see more clearly and create more meaningful work.

Small Group, Personal Guidance

Each workshop is kept deliberately small. This allows for a more thoughtful, personal experience—both in the field and in conversation. As situations develop, we work closely together. There is time to respond, to adjust, to explore different approaches. Feedback is not rushed or generalised, but considered and specific to your work. Whether you are looking to strengthen your portfolio or deepen your connection to your photography, this space is designed to support that.

WHY LEARN FROM KEVIN?

  • ✺ ONE TO ONE TUITION

By signing up for this workshop, you will learn from and be inspired by one of the leading experts in the wildlife photography industry. Kevin has over a decade of experience and a wealth of knowledge to share, helping you make your own path in this field.

  • ✺ CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY

Kevin is not the type of photographer that will just get you a standard shot. If you look over his portfolios they are stacked with different and unique shots, creatively using light. His main focus will be to do the same for you, putting you in the same positions, constantly taking into consideration the light direction and backgrounds.

  • ✺ LEARN AT YOUR OWN PACE

Photographers of all levels are welcome. Whether you are new to the world of wildlife photography or an experienced pro looking to expand your portfolio. Kevin is a full-time wildlife photographer and has years of experience providing photographic tuition.

  • “The pony workshop with Kevin was a rare and unique experience. Kevin knows the hills like the back of his hand. The session was informative, providing photographic guidance and technical support and rare encounters with the majestic animals gave me a fascinating insight into their behavior. We wandered across stunning scenery on an exciting and rewarding day capturing mystical silhouettes and intimate close-up shots of one inquisitive youngster. Kevin’s passion for the ponies is infectious and I have since viewed these beautiful animals with an entirely new lens!”

Cate - Spirit Of The Carneddau Workshop

  • "I had a wonderful time on a Carneddau pony workshop with Kevin, which, given the weather, was an amazing achievement! When I look at the photos I took, I can see a difference between those I took with Kevin’s guidance and what I would have taken on my own. I have more variety and they are technically better. I’m really chuffed to feel that I learned something and I loved the ponies and locations. As well as that, I enjoyed Kevin’s company and appreciated that he went ahead despite the weather conditions (prolonged pouring rain), that he was so good-natured about it all, and that he picked me up from the hotel! It was great to get expert and knowledgeable guidance from such a skilled, award-winning photographer. During the day, Kevin focussed on helping me (rather than taking his own photos) which I appreciated very much. I can highly recommend Kevin’s workshops ”

Helen - Spirit Of The Carneddau Workshop

  • “A wonderful day with the beautiful wild ponies. I feel privileged to have been able to get so close to them and be in their territory. Kevin was good company and shared his extensive knowledge about the ponies. It is clear he has a great passion for them. Kevin was generous with his time with individuals giving encouragement and passing on his field craft techniques to help us set up for good shots. We didn’t get the sun but that didn’t dampen Kevin’s enthusiasm in attempting to get good photographs"

Kate - Spirit Of The Carneddau Workshop

  • “Had a really enjoyable day photographing the beautiful wild ponies with Kevin. His enthusiasm and knowledge knew no bounds and even though the sun didn’t make an appearance I managed to capture the ponies in their natural environment. A brilliant day🐴”
