-
The workshop begins with meeting Kevin Morgans at a pre-arranged location within the Scottish Highlands for introductions, kit checks, and an overview of the day ahead.
Before heading onto the hill, Kevin will talk through mountain hare behaviour, ethical fieldcraft approaches, weather conditions, and how to work responsibly within these fragile upland environments. There will also be time to discuss camera settings, lens choices, and creative goals for the day.
-
As the light begins to build across the mountains, we head into the landscape in search of mountain hares within their natural habitat.
Throughout the morning, Kevin will guide participants on how to locate hares, read behaviour, and approach slowly and ethically to minimise disturbance while maximising photographic opportunities. The focus will be on creating atmospheric wildlife imagery using natural light, weather, and the surrounding landscape to tell stronger visual stories.
Participants will receive personalised guidance on composition, exposure, storytelling, and adapting creatively to changing mountain conditions.
-
We’ll pause for a relaxed lunch break within the landscape, providing an opportunity to warm up, review images from the morning session, and discuss techniques, composition, and creative approaches.
This informal session allows time for questions, one-to-one tuition, and deeper discussions around fieldcraft, wildlife storytelling, and developing your own photographic style.
-
The afternoon session continues deeper into the mountain landscape as the changing weather and shifting light create new photographic opportunities. Depending on conditions and hare activity, we’ll focus on capturing a mixture of environmental scenes, intimate portraits, behaviour, and wider storytelling imagery.
As the workshop draws to a close, participants will return with not only a strong portfolio of mountain hare images, but also a deeper understanding of ethical wildlife photography, creative fieldcraft, and the hidden world of one of Britain’s most elusive mountain species.
