Fair Isle is a beautiful location packed with wild seascapes, rugged cliff tops, and, of course, seabirds. Measuring just 3 km wide and barely 5 km long, it is Britain's most remote inhabited island. It can be found marooned in the North Sea, midway between Shetland and Orkney. Due to its location, it is not the easiest place to get to. But once you set foot on the island, it truly is a puffin paradise, and with almost 24 hours of daylight during July, it is a photographer’s dream.

This tour maximises your time with the puffins under Kevin's tutelage; he will guide you to the best spots, where you'll be able to capture a wide range of amazing images. Kevin has built up an intimate knowledge of Fair Isle and its wildlife. He will strive to use this knowledge to help you create a stunning and varied portfolio of work you can be proud of.
While puffins are the main focus of the tour, Fair Isle offers so much more. It’s home to thousands of breeding seabirds and migrants. Plus, it’s a dream for landscape photographers, with beautiful beaches, lighthouses, and coastlines. During the downtime for photography, we can explore the island. Learn about its history and even see how the famous Fair Isle wool is made. We may even spot a pod of passing orcas.

It’s hard to pick out a star from the possibilities on offer over this amazing week. In Finnish Lapland we’ll be targeting Pine grosbeak, Siberian tit and Siberian jay, Arctic redpoll, and hawk owl, but also hoping to encounter waxwing and willow grouse. In Vardø we’ll be hoping for photographic opportunities with King and Steller’s Eider and enjoying the spectacle of thousands of seabirds in the snow-covered colonies of Hornøya as well as a session in the White-tailed Eagle hides.
The evenings here are not wasted either, with Mountain Hare hide sessions and excursions—if conditions are right, to capture aurora borealis—and lastly, a boat charter onto the open water for more opportunities for sea ducks, Brunnich’s Guillemot, and a chance of Fin Whale.
