MY JOURNEY
Half of the world's population of Atlantic Puffin breed in Iceland. This is estimated at around 2 million breeding pairs. Puffins have been in steep decline across Iceland and Europe for the past few decades. However, they have been increasing on Grimsey, and it is now home to around 200,000 puffins. A mind-blowing number. There are many amazing locations to photograph the Atlantic puffin across Europe, but this remote island lying in the Arctic Circle is one of the best. The sheer number of birds, freedom and combination of the 'Midnight Sun' make it a very special location

MY JOURNEY
Hi! My name is Kev, I'm a leading professional in the wildlife photography industry, specialising in seabirds. Over the past decade, my focus has been documenting the story of the Atlantic puffin, leading to titles such as The Puffin Man and The Prince of Puffins. This has now become more than a photographic project – protecting seabirds and their habitats is now my main drive for photography.
With over a decade of experience in the industry, I have a wealth of knowledge to share with the community and a collection of awarded images from the world's biggest photographic competitions - including Bird Photographer of the Year. More recently I am proud to present my highly acclaimed book Puffins: Life on the Atlantic Edge. I owe seabirds, particularly puffins, everything to my photographic career. They are a species I have now become synonymous with, having spent years sitting on windswept clifftops documenting their lives and relationship with the coast.
However our seabirds and their coastal habitats are at risk; Oceans connect us all. They cover two-thirds of our planet and contain most life on earth. They are equally as important to us as they are vast. However they are in crisis..
Our oceans cover over 70% of our planet. Providing more than half the oxygen we breathe and absorbing nearly a third of our carbon emissions. However, the fate of our oceans and their delicate ecosystems are at a tipping point. They are in crisis; the human race is polluting our waters and destroying its habitats. Each year between 8 and 13 million tonnes of plastic enter our oceans, reducing our oceans ability to help fight the climate crisis. A third of our seas are 'protected', but in reality less than 1% of our seas are well managed.
Each day, important species and habitats are being destroyed. It's not too late; together we can turn the tide and restore the health of our oceans.
This journey and my passion to help protect our seabirds simply wouldn't be possible without your support. Let's make change together.
