These hardy, free-roaming ponies have lived among the rugged peaks and rolling moorland of the Carneddau mountains for centuries, and you’ll have the rare opportunity to capture them in their dramatic natural environment.

Kevin’s approachable teaching style ensures every participant leaves with new skills and unforgettable memories.

    Workshop Details

    Location: Carneddau mountains, Snowdonia National Park, North Wales
    Duration: Full day (approx 6 hours)
    Group Size: Small groups for a more personal experience (max. 5 participants)
    Fitness Level: Moderate – includes walking across uneven and sometimes steep terrain

  • Meet & Introduction

    • Meet in the foothills of the Carneddau mountains, Snowdonia National Park.

    • Welcome briefing from Kevin Morgans covering the day’s plan, safety, and fieldcraft for approaching the ponies.

    • Equipment check and quick Q&A on camera settings.

    • Guided walk into the mountains, taking in stunning landscapes along the way.

    • Kevin will share tips on reading the terrain to locate wildlife and work with the light.

    • First encounters with the Carneddau ponies in their natural environment.

    • Techniques for capturing behaviour, portraits, and environmental shots.

    • Individual tuition and advice to suit your photography goals.

    • Continue photographing ponies in different light and settings.

    • Opportunity to experiment with composition, backlighting, and movement shots.

    • Kevin will demonstrate approaches for storytelling in wildlife photography.

    • Gentle walk back, photographing landscapes, textures, and other wildlife along the way.
