SPIRIT OF THE CARNEDDAU
Where Wild Heritage Lives.
Escape to the mountains of North Wales for an intimate weekend photographing the iconic Carneddau ponies. Limited to just four photographers, this exclusive retreat combines unforgettable wildlife encounters with two nights in an authentic Welsh cottage, home-cooked meals, relaxed evenings by the fire and personalised tuition in one of Britain's most inspiring mountain landscapes.
Limited to just four guests, this intimate retreat has been carefully designed for photographers who want more than a workshop. It's an opportunity to slow down, connect with nature, develop your creative vision and experience life in the heart of Eryri (Snowdonia) alongside one of the UK's most celebrated wildlife photographers.
Over two unforgettable days we'll venture into the mountains at the very best times of day, searching for beautiful light, changing weather and meaningful encounters with these remarkable free-roaming ponies. Between photography sessions we'll return to our cosy Welsh cottage to relax, enjoy home-cooked meals and share stories from the day before setting out again.
DISCOVER THE SPIRIT OF THE CARNEDDAU THROUGH TWO DAYS OF IMMERSIVE WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY.
THE HEART OF CONWY
Stay. Slow Down. Connect.
The Carneddau Mountains are home to one of Britain's most extraordinary wildlife spectacles.
For centuries these remarkable ponies have roamed the high mountains of North Wales, living freely amongst ancient landscapes shaped by wind, weather and time. Watching them emerge through drifting mist or stand silhouetted against a dramatic mountain skyline is an experience that stays with you long after you've returned home.
Having photographed these mountains for many years, I've developed an intimate understanding of the ponies, their behaviour and the ever-changing conditions that make this landscape so rewarding to photograph.
This retreat isn't simply about capturing beautiful images. It's about slowing down, reading the landscape, waiting for meaningful moments and experiencing the mountains in a way that few visitors ever do.
THESE ANCIENT MOUNTAINS INVITE YOU TO SLOW DOWN, EMBRACE THE LANDSCAPE, AND CREATE IMAGES THAT CELEBRATE THE SPIRIT OF THE CARNEDDAU.
AUTHENTIC WELSH EXPERIENCE
Your Mountain Home
Throughout the weekend we'll stay together in a beautiful traditional Welsh cottage nestled on the edge of the Carneddau.
After a morning in the mountains, there's time to return to the warmth of the cottage, enjoy breakfast together, relax with a cup of coffee and review the images you've created before heading back out later in the day.
Each evening you'll be welcomed back with a freshly prepared home-cooked meal, lovingly cooked by my partner Cate, creating the perfect opportunity to unwind, share stories from the day and enjoy genuine Welsh hospitality.
These relaxed evenings often become just as memorable as the photography itself, bringing together like-minded photographers in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
