CARNEDDAU MOUNTAINS
Where Wild Heritage Lives
Shaped by centuries of wind, rain and rugged mountain terrain, the Carneddau ponies are one of Britain's oldest and most genetically distinct native pony populations. Roaming freely across the high summits and valleys of Eryri, these remarkable animals are far more than an iconic subject to photograph—they are an essential part of the landscape itself, helping to maintain the unique habitats that define these mountains.
Living on the doorstep of the Carneddau mountains in North Wales, award-winning wildlife photographer Kevin Morgans has spent years photographing these remarkable ponies and exploring the landscapes they inhabit. His approach goes beyond creating beautiful portraits, helping photographers tell the wider story of these ancient animals through light, atmosphere and the dramatic mountain landscapes they have called home for centuries.
Over two immersive days, you'll explore two contrasting locations, each offering its own character, light and photographic opportunities. With a strong emphasis on ethical wildlife photography, creative vision and understanding the environment, you'll learn how to create images that celebrate not only the ponies, but the wild landscapes that have shaped them for generations.
More than a photography workshop, this is an opportunity to experience the spirit of Eryri, support responsible eco-tourism, and leave with a deeper appreciation of one of Britain's most extraordinary living landscapes.
DISCOVER THE SPIRIT OF THE CARNEDDAU THROUGH TWO DAYS OF IMMERSIVE WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY.
THE HEART OF CONWY
Stay. Slow Down. Connect.
Your experience includes one night's stay in carefully selected eco-friendly accommodation in the heart of the Conwy Valley, providing the perfect base from which to explore the wild landscapes of the Carneddau. Surrounded by mountains, woodland and open countryside, it's a place to unwind after a day in the field and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of North Wales.
On Saturday evening, we'll come together to enjoy a relaxed meal at a local restaurant, sharing stories from the day, reviewing images and discussing the creative opportunities that await on day two. These informal conversations are often just as valuable as the time spent behind the camera, offering inspiration, feedback and the chance to connect with like-minded photographers.
By choosing locally owned accommodation and supporting independent businesses, this experience has been designed with sustainable tourism at its heart, ensuring your visit contributes positively to the communities and landscapes that make this corner of Wales so special.
THESE ANCIENT MOUNTAINS INVITE YOU TO SLOW DOWN, EMBRACE THE LANDSCAPE, AND CREATE IMAGES THAT CELEBRATE THE SPIRIT OF THE CARNEDDAU.
